Developing a Research Agenda
Dr. Micki Kacmar, Durr-Fillauer Chair of Business Ethics and professor of management, University of AlabamaThe Beebe Institute of Personnel and Employment Relations recently hosted internationally recognized researcher Dr. Micki Kacmar. In her talk, she conveyed her views on publishing from the perspective of a journal editor. The talk was titled “Developing a Research Agenda.” Dr. Kacmar is an associate editor for the Academy of Management Journal and served as the associate editor for Human Resource Management Journal from 1996-1999 and as the editor of the Journal of Management from 2000-2002. She currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Managerial Issues, Human Resource Management Journal, and Organizational Analysis. She is active in the Academy of Management having been elected to the executive committee for the HR division, served a three year term as the HR division newsletter co-editor, and recently finished the five-year officer rotation. Dr. Kacmar also was elected to the board of governors for the Southern Management Association and served a six-year term on the board of directors of the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation. She is a fellow in the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Southern Management Association. Professor Kacmar’s research interests include ethics, impression management, and organizational politics. She has published more than 80 articles in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Journal of Business Ethics.
